Hey everyone,

From the start of 2024 I wanted to make this year the year of Smallburg, cearting new packs every month and small updates every week.

I managed that for 2.5 months until life took me for a ride. From my mother being threatened with a gun from a deranged neighbour to family issues with my kids. Health issues took me down as my gut was infected by a bacteria that destroyed my capabilities for food intake. My day work also gave me a lot of stress combining with all of the other things I just did not had the mental ability to pick up Smallburg.

In the last months most of the issues were resolved away or are in the processed of being resolved and this gave me some time ... which I use to play games as I did not want to do anything else. I played Valheim, a bit of WoW, Delver and Cult of the Lamb...

...Which I loved... And made me think about Smallburg a lot.

I really like the way that the animation is made. 8 directions for the walk/run animation and two for the rest like planting, attacking and pickaxe mining for example.

And I though about this for Smallburg and I tested 8 sides for idle. 

And I quite liked it... so I tried the walking animation for 8 directions.

And then the run animation as well...

And it seemed good... So to do this I reduced the animations to 4 frames instead of the old 6.

Then I wanted to see how this works in game... so I opened the prototype I'm doing for the Smallburg packs and tested it out.

Quite nice I like it!

I am moving to change all of the packs to a new version called v4.0, where movement animations are 8 directional, but other animations are only 2 sided (left and rigth). This would make my life creating new animations way easier.

On version 4.0 I want to have the assets version of the packs and spritesheet version for all of you that need to include all assets in your games.

I am changing the town pack as we speak, and moving on to the farm and dungeon pack after. 

I will leave version 3.0 as downloadable items for everyone that wants the old versions.
