Weekly Update #3 - New Housing System

Welcome to Smallburg a small little cute 16x16 pixel art village ready for your game development needs.

In this weekly update I wanted to revise the Housing System in the tileset.

I wanted to have three major things:

  1. Any kind of house (tile based of course)
  2. Several floors
  3. Inner walls

First of all there was only the possibility of making a rectangular house before and that was the first thing I needed to fix. And fix I did. I wanted to have the ability to create any type of house, well, still kinda rectangular shaped house, but now with more edges.

So I made it possible to have different edges to the walls. This ways you can create any sort of house possible with tilesets. I also had to update the roof system to accommodate for the new wall types.

The next step was several floors, as you can see above, I also managed to do that. Some more wall types were added to make sure that the exterior and interior matched. You can now have layers of floors that will look nice in your game just by stacking them.

I was also challenged by a friend (hey Ana!) to make a house with several levels of roofs and I came up with this.

It's now possible to have roofs in both side of the house that will still look good with the new wall types. ALSO STAIRS!!!

The final step was inner walls... This was harder as the left and right walls are not at the same place in the tile, but I still managed to get somewhere I was happy with.

And finally because I wanted to have more chimneys, I added two more and two animations for smoke, which were made to combine as you can see bellow. Both smoke puffs are two different animations.

And I think that's it for this update. Hope you enjoyed this week's update and I am really excited to see what you come up with. Feel free to message me with a link to your work.
